PrOH Modelling follows specific rules and guidelines. The basic rules and guidelines are explained on this website as an introduction of how to do PrOH Modelling. In simple terms each PrOH Model is based on a PrOH Model template that forms the basis of each and every PrOH Model. The PrOH Model template embodies essential holonic properties. These are the name of the system phase under observation, the boundary of the current phase model, name of the previous phase, main input into the current process phase, the person or department in charge of the system phase, the objective of the system phase, the output of the current phase of the system, person in charge of the next phase and name of the following system phase. There is always a core process statement that runs from top left to bottom right.
Very simple colour codes are used to differentiate between people in red bubbles, tangible artefacts in green bubbles, and intangible factors in white bubbles. All bubbles have noun phrases in. Bubbles can be compound bubbles giving either containment bubbles that contain other bubbles to show groups of similar items (giving an ‘and’ function). Compound bubbles can also be given a dotted outer line to create a decision bubble indicating that specific sub-bubbles have different outcomes (giving an ‘or’ function’).
Arrow headed links are used to join bubbles together to form readable sentences from the model. All arrow links will have a phrase that contains a verb.
The arrow links do not indicate causality, as in many models, but instead directional arrows show the direction in which to read the model. Causality within the model is described by language in the model.
